Writing blog posts can be a daunting task to many bloggers. It’s called writer’s block. Every one of us experiences this once in a while. I have experienced this myself quite often before but things have got better and if you applied the following 10 great steps, you won’t have a problem. You‘ll even start enjoying writing great content easily and freely.
The following are the steps; practice them, play around with them and start enjoying writing very helpful posts on your blog every after several days if not every day:-
1. Think of a Topic
There are several ways of brainstorming for a blog post topic. You can brainstorm as you want to write or an idea might come up in your mind as you talk or chat with someone about a particular topic. Funny enough, an idea might even come up while walking in the streets. Write the idea in your phone’s or personal notebook.
You can also form a topic idea from FAQ’s (Frequently Asked Questions) in your blog, social media pages or forums.
2. Split the Topic Idea Into Several Parts
The major topic idea you brainstormed can be very broad. Split it into several parts to come up with other smaller, more focused topics.
You might also take the idea you thought about and view it from different angles which will form the direction your blog post will take.
3. Did you have a quality sleep?
This is absolutely crucial. Before you start writing your blog post, make sure you’re fresh in your mind and you had a good sleep.
Quality sleep is equal to good health. Good health is equal to a better state of mind. A better state of mind is equal to flow of ideas. Flow of ideas is equal to a great blog post.
Do not ever write your post while you’re psychologically worn-out. You will confuse yourself and your readers alike.
4. Comfortable working space
Look for a quiet place with less or no interruptions at all. This will ensure free flow of ideas.
Write your post under favorable weather conditions. This depends with your geographical location. If it’s mostly cold in your region, try to warm yourself up. Take some coffee to activate your mind and warm your body. If in hot region, write your post in say like, in a shade under a tree and sip some cold juice. The idea is, refreshing yourself.
5. Turn the Ideas From the Main Idea Into Blog Posts Topics
By now you already have your several ideas available to you. Make them a blog post topic each. Make sure you’ll have enough points on the topics.
6. Create Body by Outlining main points of the topic
Take each topic you made above, one at a time, and split them into several points that you’ll add ‘meat’ to. The points under your topic are your post’s skeleton.
Break the points into smaller minor points to exhaust the main points you gathered from your topic.
7. Expound On the Points
The next step is to broaden your points and add the ‘meat’ to the ‘skeleton’. Write a sentence or two on each point by explaining them further and slowly create your paragraphs. Give examples and clarifications where necessary.
Basically, you’re now exhausting your ideas and writing all relevant things you know to fulfill your title’s promise. Focus is key here. Be careful not to deviate and stick to the topic of your title.
8. Write Your Introduction
From the body of your post, give a brief outline of your title and introduce your subject. Give a hint of what your blog post will be about and let your ideas flow into the main body.
9. Write Your Conclusion
Again, from the main body of your blog post, summarize the main points and come up with a conclusion.
If possible make recommendations and offer your thoughts on what should be done. Revisit a crucial or two points that you want your readers to remember and keep in their minds.
10. Review and Refine Your Blog Post
This is the last step. Congratulations that now you have a good but not ‘perfect’ blog post. Read over your blog post and put yourself in your reader’s shoes. Make grammatical and spelling errors amends and polish your post ready for publishing. If possible, do this twice or even thrice.
This is one of the best ways to come up with as many great and focused blog posts as you want without struggling or experiencing writer’s block.
